The Dynamic Environmental Duo
Nathaniel Reed served as environmental advisor to Governor Kirk prior to serving on the Florida Pollution Control Commission and as chairman of Florida's Department of Air and Water Pollution Control. Reed was successful in achieving two significant events in Florida environmental politics: the enactment of the Florida Jetport Pact and the rejection of the Cross-Florida Barge Canal Project.
Reed co-authored the milestone Endangered Species Protection act of 1973 while serving as deputy secretary of the Department of the Interior under President Nixon. The act was instrumental in protecting several of Florida’s most vulnerable species.
